Today is January 7, which marks one year since I started writing this newsletter. With that milestone, as well as the beginning of a new year, I wanted to take a moment to share what I added to my closet throughout 2024. Thank you for being here. Your support means the world to me!

My best purchase was the two bikinis I got in Tangerine at Nu Swim’s sample sale. I bought the Daisy top as well as the High Contrast bottom in the colors Manzanita and Fish/Black. I would highly recommend signing up for Nu Swim’s newsletter, as they tend to throw some really great sales every now and then. (At this particular sample sale, the tops were $35 and the bottoms $25.)
My most worn piece was a vintage Hugo Boss men’s blazer, which I thrifted in a small town in Northern Denmark for $9. It’s a timeless piece, and I’ve practically worn it for every occasion you can think of.
My worst purchase was the Dancer Dress by Anna October. It’s been a long time since a piece of clothing made me cry, but the Anna October dress I bought as a potential option for our elopement brought up feelings about my body I hadn’t experienced in years. When I saw my reflection in the mirror, I genuinely burst into tears. I think it’s a dress designed for a very specific body type, so I ended up returning it—though not without a $100 fee…
My biggest splurge was the Petit Bambimou bag from Jacquemus. When my husband and I eloped, I ordered a couple of dresses that I ended up returning. On one site, the return fee was so high that requesting a refund didn’t make any sense. Because I loved the Jacquemus dress and shoes I wore at our wedding ceremony so much, I decided to get store credit and spend it all (plus a little extra) on Jacquemus’ Le Bambimou Petit bag. I’d now consider myself a loyal Jacquemus customer because I utterly love all three Jacquemus pieces I acquired in 2024.
Thrifting and vintage shopping were my preferred ways of adding pieces to my wardrobe. There’s something so exhilarating about finding the perfect vintage piece in person that just can’t be replicated. However, thrifting is truly an art form that requires so much time, patience, and—depending on where you live—a lot of money. Because of that, I rarely buy vintage in person and have used Vinted to find the vast majority of my second-hand purchases of the year.
Some of my favorite second-hand finds of 2024 I spent the latter part of 2024 wearing a uniform of jeans, a t-shirt, a blazer, and a pair of white Salomon XT-6. Sartorially speaking, one of my biggest sources of inspiration was people-watching in Paris and New York. Turns out, a very simple uniform such as the one mentioned above is a universal formula.
Congrats on one year!! <3
